Comrades chairman Geordie 'GTB' Hewish was this week honoured by top French officials for services to the CIU circuit, sidekick Davie Naylis told us the reason " The French have long admired the English CIU circuit, tired of sidestreet bistro's and front line cafes and bars serving red wine and moet the French sent a crack team across the channel to observe the CIU way " he went on "And it was the Dunston Excelsior & the Comrades which most impressed. In fact we had great faith in GTB who scooped the top award from the French 'the statue de la Carling', a beautiful sculpture of Geordie himself in honour of the expertise he passed to the French" Here we see GTB proudly displaying the figurine last night for services to the French CIU drinkers.
