Today the FE6 caught up with former goalkeeping legend Paul 'fossies ball' Foster as he roared to the world crown green bowls title in spectacular fashion "My work as a groundsman in Backworth Park was the key to my success" he advised "Every evening I will roll a wood or two after a hard days work, and after a while nobody could beat me, a bit like my days between the sticks" he laughed in that familiar foster fashion. Indeed the 'Black Cat' (named after his love of all black clothing, including polo shirt, tracksuit bottoms, and trainers worn with his traditional white socks - not after the famous russian stopper Lev Yashin) was almost swayed away from the tournament last week by his beloved Man Utd, he advises " When Tony Coton the goalkeeping coach had to retire last month through injury I got a call off Fergie asking me to take the job, but unfortunately I couldn't as the summer bulbs has just come in" he concluded. Here we see Fossie last week pictured on sky sports, victorious in the earlier rounds of the tournament, of course sporting his Man Utd top and lucky jogging bottoms.

Well done to the former stopper big Fossy. However it is very interesting to see that his opponent shown here was none other that Andy 'Tiger' Thompson, the fiercest full back in the cramlington league (circa early -mid 90's) I bet Fossy & the Tiger shared a laugh or two about that one!!!!!!!!!!
